‘Healing Ground II’
51 x 61cm
Acrylic on stretched canvas, ready to hang.
This work depicts the Tea Tree ground. Tea Trees with their shiny white and grey paper bark reflect the moonlight and illuminate the country. Aboriginal people came to know of the tea tree’s healing properties thousands of years ago. They crushed the leaves and applied it the paste to cuts, burns, bites and skin ailments. They also brewed the leaves into tea for coughs, colds and inflammations of the throat and bathed in the healing tea tree stained lakes.
