This piece represents the tea tree stained lakes that are scattered on Country. A totem tree, the Bundjalung people were the first to know of the Tea Tree’s healing properties. Leaves were crushed into paste and applied to cuts, burns, bites and skin ailments. The leaves were brewed into tea for coughs, colds and inflammation. Some women bathed and gave birth in the healing tea tree stained lakes and waterways as part of ceremonial and sacred practices of Women’s Business.
