‘Regeneration of Country’
51 x 61cm
Acrylic on stretched canvas, ready to hang.
This work represents the regeneration and abundance of wildflowers, bush seeds and berries on Bundjalung country. For over 60,000 years, Aboriginal people cared for Country by using land management that worked with the environment. Bundjalung and Aboriginal communities across Australia used traditional cool cultural burning techniques to maintain and regenerate native bushland. Cultural burning is also used for purposes such as protecting scared sites and clearing access to country for cultural uses, such as hunting, access to fish traps and sacred ceremonial grounds.
