This work symbolises sacred trees on Country. Trees are our medicine, our ancestor’s stories and are a direct link to our old people. They are important to our way of life and can heal physically, spiritually and mentally. Trees and flora help anchor our identity and belonging to Country. Trees of the same species growing in the same stand are connected to each other through their root systems. Recent research has discovered that trees co-operate, communicate and share with each other via airborne hormones and fungal networks under the ground. They look, listen and understand. You cannot separate our identity from nature, you cannot separate the land from people. The land holds healing and we come from the land.
